The Hungarian Reformed Church Aid was among those Charities which coordinated the shipping to Sub-Carpathia, Ukraine. The Diaconal Coordination Office of the Reformed Church in Transcarpathia, on the other end, prepared the reception of the aid.
Hungary will send aid to Ukraine on Tuesday with the message that it will help not only ethnic Hungarians living near Hungary’s border but also non-Hungarians on the other side of the Carpathians, Human Resources Minister Zoltán Balog told public news channel M1. Eight charities have put on wheels 100 million forints (EUR 324,000) worth of aid to be provided to people in Western Ukraine, a senior official of the Hungarian Reformed Charity said. The aid consignment containing durable food, medical equipment and sanitary supplies is being delivered to locals by eight lorries, Sándor Pál, the head of the charity’s board, said.
The donations were also raised by the Catholic, Maltese and Baptist charities, the Hungarian Red Cross and the Federation of Hungarian Jewish Communities (Mazsihisz), Gábor Écsi, leader of the Catholic Charity, said. Sponsors of the transport include the foreign and the human resources ministries, and the Ukrainian minority self-government in Hungary, he said.
