"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12: 1-2
Youth Prayer Night in the Carpathian Basin is being organized annually. This year the Reformation is the main theme of the Prayer Night. The Sub-Carpathian Reformed Youth Organization called KRISZ prepared the suggested guideline for the prayer groups which will gather together for the night of the 27th October in the Hungarian Reformed communities in the Carpathian Basin.
This year, bishops of the Hungarian Reformed Community within and beyond the Hungarian border, call the youth for participation at the Prayer Night.
Dear Young People!
Prayer is said to be not only the breath of the soul, but also man's approach to God, which is indispensable in the glorification and worship of God. This is a process because one has to acknowledge that without breath and the wonderful opportunity to go to God, one is unable to keep life going in the right direction. Nowadays we witness that life is very far from going in the right direction. It is getting harder to see the differences between good and bad, useful and useless, uplifting and degrading. We must take a deep breath and shout to God for humility, grace, clear vision and renewal of our lives. Dear Young People! Thank you for showing the rest of us an example through the Prayer Night by organizing it annually, participating in prayer, and pointing to Him who can change our lives so that we may be a desirable sacrifice, as our bible verse states. I hope that through this, you will be able to live in what is good, God-minded and perfect. I wish for a blessed and constructive time together!

Do not conform to this world!
Humans are so willing to sacrifice for parts of their lives, sometimes even placing their bodies on the altar, for home in war, for success in sports, for results in work, for children in parental care. Paul wants to see this willingness in all areas of life. He speaks of clever worship, taking place, not only in appearance, mechanically–without thinking, but also in a logical consequence of what we have recognized in Christ. Paul sees the practical way of transformation, “do not conform to the pattern of this world.” Do not adjust yourself to the expectation and thinking of the old world without Christ. Do not be violent, selfish and superficial in the patterns of the world! Keep your differences in those. Dare to think differently, act justly, love deeper, and believe more than the average person. Let it be natural that a Christian does not conform to the pattern of the world, but offer themselves as a sacrifice to God. It is necessary to have clever worship with Christians who can wander over the wavelength of God, whose faith and words have a reversing effect that transforms the world to triumph over evil. To grow in Christ’s expectations it requires a lot of prayer and attention to Christ. May the Holy Spirit use the Youth Prayer Night of the Carpathian Basin of 2017; this I wish from my heart.

Let us have a devoted life!
The Youth Prayer Night in the Carpathian Basin about the reformation held in the 500th anniversary year of the Reformation shows us what our tasks are when so many are expecting a "new reformation." Let me summarize it with a short sentence: let us live a devoted life! The Holy Trinity is in a living relationship with God—obedience and walking in faith is what constitutes the reformation of our personal lives. We cannot give up on this reformation, we must insist on this. By experiencing forgiveness and the grace of new life, the joy of being obedient and the undeniable hope in God is the struggle of our daily lives. But this life begins in prayer and must continue in it. For this year's Prayer Night, let us pray for a reformation to come to us through the grace of God and His work, so that we may be blessed and devoted to him in constant reformation of His people in the Mother Church until the return of Jesus Christ.

Why is prayer important?
The possibility of prayer is a gift; a gift given, not only by parents, pastors, congregations, and but primarily, by the Creator, Savior, and Holy God. God has made it possible for me to pray, and through prayer, allows me to live with him. This privilege means belonging and safety in God. When I pray, I know who I am: a child of God who prays daily and prays for grace. Do not rest and do not tire of prayer … for all we ask, we get.
